Description
Begin the Shifty 200 by heading through the centre of Bristol and out across Kenn Moor to Yatton to collect your first proof of passage. Back east you go to the north of The Mendips through Somerset to Wesbury for control 2. Round the norther edge of Salisbury Plain then across the Vale of Pewsey and up Milk Hill for a cracking long gradual descent to Marlborough and PoP 3. Over Hackpen Hill the other way and across the Avon Valley to Malmesbury for your final control. An easy ride back to the Cotswold escarpment before back into Bristol.
Details
X-rated in its purest with no controllers or designated stops; ATMs, shops or cafes available at free controls to collect a receipt. This mid week event is aimed at those wanting to pre qualify for PBP who don't have time at the weekends.
Brevet return postage included.

Route notes and a variety of files/links will be available usually 5 days before the event.
Will's are considered the Gold Standard for AUK events!

Route & validation
- The route is advisory - you just have to visit the controls and gain proof of passage within time limits where specified; there may be parts that you'd like to take a different route and that is entirely up to you; the time limits for the controls don't change!
- Validation: Not Instant - brevet cards are returned to AUK for homologation. I will post them on to you UNLESS you deselect brevet card return postage (see the roll over tip in booking form).

Well organised ride with welcoming controls
I was grateful for the 7am start and the cycling routes in Bristol to clear the city before the morning commute began. We were made welcome in Yatton.
There are wonderful countryside vistas on the way to Westbury. The towns of Marlborough and Malmesbury are very attractive. The ride back to Bristol seemed to be a long climb into the wind, while the descent into Bristol on cycle routes was sheltered. We arrived back at headquarters where Will congratulated us for finishing.
I will do this ride again next year
Lovely mid-week adventure
The weather gods smiled on us again as we rolled out of Bristol on the Shifty 200. A fantastic ride with easy controls and a varied and spectacular route. Many thanks Will for helping us busy weekenders out with this mid-week special!

Great route and faultless organisation
A series of midweek events is perfect for those of us who struggle to get away at the weekends and I’m hugely grateful to the organizer. The event ran just as smoothly as you’d expect based on the user friendliness of this website and the route was great – challenging without being daft and lots of smaller roads through an area of the country that I was not as all familiar with. Route cards and gpx were spot on, as was the friendly welcome on my return to the hq. Weather was dreadful, but you can’t have it all! I’ll be back for more later in the year ?
