Road to Rode - a great day out
I am relatively new to Audaxes so I chose this one for a distance I could confidently achieve and the generous time limit as well as somewhere I hadn’t cycled before. I wasn’t disappointed. The route has both great country views and interesting places, like Nunney Castle. The Rode control was just right for a short break at the very welcoming cafe (first time I have been offered ice when topping up my bidons). I enjoyed the inclusion of the various cycle trails which offered traffic free riding and a little shade. I especially liked the Two Tunnels which were nice and cool on a hot day. Recommended
Lovely interesting route
Lots of varied countryside with great views, particularly at the top of zig zag hill! Some nice cycle route sections appreciated to avoid the traffic! Controls were very helpful semi food and filling water bottles etc. Nice to have the entry into Bath by the two tunnels and the cycle path cool down. Overall an excellent ride! Will puts a lot of effort in to organising these and then has to spend a day waiting for everyone to get back. Much appreciated.
My first Audax....
I did this with a friend, Roger who is an experienced Audaxer who kindly “showed me the ropes” and encouraged me along the way. It was a really varied route with testing hills and the surprise element of a very long tunnel which featured its own violin music! The countryside was most attractive and everyone was friendly and supportive – riders, helpers and Will’ himself. I would thoroughly recommend the event.
Excellent Introduction to Longer Distance Rides
Hailing from over the bridge it was lovely to ride through new countryside.
We rode this as it was one of the few Audax that took place in the summer of 2021 due to “One thing and Another”.
I could see it being a great stepping stone to longer 200km and beyond rides, as well as the friendly but quirky world of Audax.
