Overview
In memory of Jon Banks, a much-loved friend and cycling companion in Audax Club Bristol and across the Audax Community, who died suddenly in 2025.
Description
Based on Jon's classic North Wessex Downs event, we roll east from Bristol across the Cotswolds before arriving at the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
White Horses, natural downlands and historic Marlborough all feature on 100km riding through some of the best of our region's countryside. After a village hall stop for tea and cake, we roll west into the setting sun before crossing the Cotswolds once more for a well earned finish.
What others think.
The best of Wales. Twice.
A very fine weekend on two wheels. Helped out by some stunning weather, this was a truly excellent event – a great route, buttery smooth organisation and relentlessly cheery volunteers who couldn’t do enough. Thank you Will and team.
Always one of the best - now it’s even better!
A truly epic weekend’s cycling – epic distance, epic climbing, epic scenery and an epic effort from everyone involved in putting on such a great event. This one felt much more than just another long bike ride – it felt like a proper cycling adventure. Love the changes Will and ACB have introduced – particularly the delightful coastal section on the way home from Kings.
Glorious Wales
A stunning route in beautiful scenery, seeing Wales at its finest. Really well organised by Will and his band of helpers and volunteers who helped shepard weary riders at the stops, helping people find a spot to sleep. Nice to have Fergus the photographer popping up at random spots along the route as well.
It was my firsts audax over 300k and (most of) the climbs were pretty steady affairs. A couple were a bit #willshills, but that was to be expected. Some of the A roads got a bit busy, but that came with travelling that length of Wales and also the weather had all the drivers out.
Nice to spin down the Wye Valley in May as a run in to the finish, although the Llancloudy climb after 575km was a bit unfair!
Looking forward to more of the same.
BCM 23
This was my second BCM , and loved the changes made in the second half from Newtown to the shell Garage .
Would welcome changes to the first half ( If Possible) to used some quieter roads .
Organisation first rate from Will and the team from ACB . The Food stops worked very well with the staggered start .
Maybe would like to see an Outdoor food stop control with about 50/60:k from finish.
As it was ACB first BCM event I’m pretty sure that this well run Event will be even better in the future.
A fun weekend
Superb. Enjoyed the route even more than my 12 previous BCM’s
Great TLC from ACB pals, plenty of food, nice bed at Kings
Liked the day two route via the coast instead of Cross Foxes
Not getting any younger so it wasn’t that quick but would do that weekend again!!
