Overview
In memory of Jon Banks, a much-loved friend and cycling companion in Audax Club Bristol and across the Audax Community, who died suddenly in 2025.
Description
Based on Jon's classic North Wessex Downs event, we roll east from Bristol across the Cotswolds before arriving at the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
White Horses, natural downlands and historic Marlborough all feature on 100km riding through some of the best of our region's countryside. After a village hall stop for tea and cake, we roll west into the setting sun before crossing the Cotswolds once more for a well earned finish.

The best BCM yet
Superb. Enjoyed the route even more than my 2 previous BCM’s, particularly the ‘morning’ (for me) section around the headland to Aberdovey. Although the night section shortcut through Rhyd was one kicker of a climb I’d happily avoid next time. The run back through the lanes around Weobley was far more enjoyable than previous routes down through Llandrindod Wells, even if it was a little slower going. All the organisers and helpers were fabulous and the ACB riders in particular were very friendly. The weather wasn’t bad either 😉 thanks Will.
Amazing view
This was really one of the best ride regarding the scenery. Less hilly and it would be probably the best one. The organisation and controls were great too. I loved it but my legs and bum didn’t. Would I do it again, yes if I have more comfy saddle.
Stunning
I’ve done a lot of cycling but this (2023) was my first Bryan Chapman. Bottom line: absolutely stunning, the best cycling event I’ve done in years. Incredible challenge, mindblowing scenery, fantastic organisation. Top marks to Will and his team. Thanks.
First Attempt
This was a very well organised event indeed. Good route, especially the return leg, officials were very encouraging and friendly. Tough ride but well worth the effort
Brilliant
Great route and impeccable organisation. The marmalade sandwiches at Paddington were brilliant. The welcome at all the checks were very much appreciated …. Especially the beans on toast in the middle of the night. Highly recommend these events 🙂
